Identity of a Saint/Christian

It’s Friday February 9th in the year 2018, and the snow covers Chicago this morning. My real name is Sam, and I go by ‘The Mystery Minista” as a pen name or handle. I head up a fantasy ministry called “Mystery Ministry’z” on social media, blog, and YouTube.

The fellowship we have with one another is spiritual and not physical. Our fellowship in Christ cannot be broken any more than Christ could be divided within Himself. Meeting in person would not diminish this as a real reality.

I live alone and would like to work 4 hours per day in the mornings. I’ve been enduring protracted psychiatric drug withdrawal for the past 3 plus years. I had a short term job a year and a half ago, but only have donated blood plasma and for extra money since then.

What else is there to know about me except that which God says about the in Christ Saint in Scripture? I am a grace believer, and by grace I have been born again. I was far off or far away, BUT NOW I have been brought near.

I am regenerate, and have been convicted of my sinful nature once and for all. I am a son of God and an anointed one. I am a holy one, according to God.

I am an ambassador of reconciliation, and a minister of the New Testament (the final will and testament of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ). I am a partaker of the divine nature, and a peculiar person. I have been co-crucified, co-buried, and co-resurrected together with Christ.

What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? God        forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein? Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into His death? Therefore we are buried with Him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from he dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. For if we have been planted together in the likeness of His death, we also shall be in the likeness of His resurrection: (Romans 6:1-5 KJV)

There is no mention of ‘water’ in the 6th chapter of Romans. Baptism doesn’t mean ‘in water’. Spiritual baptismal regeneration is in discussion here.

What good does it do a person to know any of this or be correctly understanding the word of God here? These things are true, but ‘so what’? Sometimes there is no “so what”.

Sometimes we just know that these things are so … and keep reckoning ourselves as we truly are, which is ‘dead to sin (the sinful nature and its specific cravings, which are distortions of colorless human bodily appetites) and alive to God in Christ Jesus. There is no spectacular mountaintop experience or ‘spiritual breakthrough’ which reading my blog will dramatically give you a memorable point in time you can go back to in your memory and tell yourself, “thats when I gave my life to the Lord” or “that was when I rededicated my life to God.”

God doesn’t want to be Lord of your life and He doesn’t want you to rededicate your life to Him either. Romans 12:1-2 tells Saints in Christ to present our BODIES to God, but never does God ask for a silly ‘dedication’ or ‘rededication’ of our lives to Him. This isn’t church camp, this is reality.

Our personal Identity is something that can be very confusing for so many of us. God’s word has such a specific identity for each of us which is actually true and REALITY. You and I are not who we say we are, we are not who the rest of the world says we are, but we are the specific people God says we are in His word.

Its one thing to believe in Jesus and go to church and identify as a Christian in the world to others, but I have found its quite another thing to know that you yourself were completely worthless and devoid of value not because of your life you’ve lived, be it good or bad. Its knowing that you yourself were crucified with Christ and you don’t live anymore because He Himself is living inside you. Its about knowing you had and have nothing of value to offer God but that God is good and gracious to save us and ultimately be the cause of our superb happiness.
